A non-profit seminar at the heart, the roots & the origins of tradition : 11 exceptional days, on the rythm of the « nisiotika », of the flowing and waving music from the islands.
An 11-day workshop organized with the Naxians, with the « Naxiotes » : for the 1st time, dance lessons & teaching will take place in the heart of the old villages, with dancers from those villages.
A whole year for the preparation, with a tight and strong partnership with the dancers & the musicians from the island, as well as the City of Naxos Drymalias, the villages, and their cultural associations.
Much more than a seminar : a journey through history, tradition, history, culture, soul, daily life and memories of Naxos, of the Cyclads, of the Aegean Sea…
A new and unique experience : meeting the rich, lively, strong and fascinating folk culture of Naxos, the most « dancing » island from the 30 Cyclads…
11 days within a well-preserved, magical, forgotten Greece, to share rare, joyful and warm moments of daily life with the islanders
Meeting Naxos, where tradition was born, where it has its real roots, where it lives, where it is being shared and transmitted with strength and authenticity.
Programm :
•5 ½ hours of danse, every day, in 4 different villages (with 2 days for break)
•Parties at night with a group of local traditional musicians being with us all time
•Dînners within traditional taverns
•Private concert with a local master of Naxian music
•A 1-day trip to the Small Kyklades, with seabath and lunch : Irakleia, Schinousa, Koufounisia, Keros, Donoussa
•Visits of high tradition places : maker/player/teacher of tsambouna, weaving factory, winery, olive oil press & mill, farms, etc.
•Hotel : a very nice family owned place, at the fishing harbour of Apollonas.
